The Samford Edible Garden Trail offers garden enthusiasts and nature lovers a unique chance to explore a variety of stunning, eco-friendly gardens in the picturesque Samford Valley. Here is your guide to wandering through lush landscapes, learning about organic gardening and permaculture, and getting hands-on with fun, interactive workshops. It’s no wonder visitors to Maiala Park Lodge rave about this experience! The trail isn’t just a highlight of the year; it’s an unforgettable journey into the heart of sustainable gardening, all while soaking in the beauty of Moreton Bay Region.

How It All Started

The trail began with a simple question posed by four local women in 2019: why isn’t there an open garden scheme for edible gardens in Australia? This idea blossomed into a full-fledged event as they organized their plans over Zoom and visited gardens individually to gather and share knowledge online. By the end of 2020, they had showcased twenty-nine gardens across south-east Queensland, receiving tremendous support and viewership from around Australia and even abroad. This gave birth to one of the most cherished experiences in the Samford Valley.
